Overview
This course has been designed specifically to cover how BIM Level 2 relates to the tasks and activities of a site manager.
As a site manager, not only are you responsible for the construction of the project, but you must keep in mind project and statutory sustainability and health and safety requirements. In addition, you also need to ensure that the sub-contractors you appoint, provide you with the correct information to complete the operation and maintenance manuals as well as any handover documentation.
This means that you are directly responsible for the production and exchange of information; making you a core part of the BIM Level 2 process. BIM Level 2, at its most fundamental level, is about getting the right information, to the right people, at the right time, in the right format. By implementing BIM level 2 on your projects, you will receive better information from the designers and principle contractor, allowing you to make better on-site decisions; and the information you supply back needs to be just as well thought out to ensure the benefits are also extended back up to the principle contractor and ultimately the asset manager and end users.
It is quite likely that the success of a project such as BIM level 2, will be dependent on how you ensure the information generated on site, is fed back to produce the handover documentation.
