Virtual training event

Following the online learning phase, you will attend a 2-day virtual training course which will consolidate your understanding and newly acquired knowledge. Through workshops, exercises and learning activities, we will refine your understanding gained through the online training before moving on to the more complex and technical aspects of the scheme.

Day 1:   The day starts with an introduction before trainees take an online Initial Test based on the online learning programme. Trainees will then participate in the interactive workshop and group activities to help with understanding some of the technical issues in more depth and review issues in a wider context. Topics covered are the BREEAM processes and a review of technical Issues Ene01, Mat01 and Mat03.

Day 2:   The second day starts with looking at adapting BREEAM to the different building types and reviews BREEAM in a wider context. It then covers the scope of BREEAM, examination information and the BREEAM Quality Assurance process. In addition, there is a question and answer (Q&A) session.

Online Examinations:     The day and time will need to be set by individual trainees directly with ProctorU* for a date that is suitable to both parties. BRE Academy are working with ProctorU* Inc., based in the USA, to remotely invigilate and verify the identity of students taking the exam which forms part of this online learning course. For more information on ProctorU’s privacy policy and their “Privacy Shield” credentials, please go to https://www.proctoru.com/privacy-policy/ . Please note that you must present acceptable photo identification (ID) for admission to the examination (such as a passport, driving licence or EU ID card).

You will undertake 2 multiple-choice examinations and both papers are an open book type allowing you to refer to any notes or documentation that may assist you. Trainees will need to pass both examinations to become qualified assessors for the scheme.

On successful completion of the course and the examinations, you will be issued with notification that verifies your BREEAM Assessor qualification. You will then be required to apply to BRE Global Ltd to become a Licenced BREEAM Assessor under the Scheme in order to practice. You must make this application within 12 months of completing the course.

To practice as a licenced BREEAM Assessor you will be required to pay an annual licence fee and hold adequate levels of professional insurance, particularly professional indemnity insurance.

Sustainability is at the heart of BRE, and we take our impact on the environment very seriously. As part of our concerted effort to reduce our impact, we have taken the positive decision to go ‘paperless’. You will be provided with high-quality handouts, technical manuals and associated training material, but rather than these being paper-based, we will provide your supporting resources electronically in PDF format. Having your training notes in an electronic format is not only good for the environment it also means you can keep your notes on your portable computer/ electronic tablet to use at your convenience to aid you with your training programme. Please note that if you wish, you can use your own paper versions on the virtual event and also use as a reference point during the examinations but please consider the environment before printing
