The BREEAM International Refurbishment and Fit-Out scheme has been developed to tailor sustainable assessments specifically for refurbishment and fit-out projects. There is flexibility to incorporate a range of refurbishment and fit-out project types, with specific criteria for historic buildings, addressing restrictions on standard refurbishment and fit-out options. Early engagement of the scheme identifies the optimum refurbishment and fit-out practices. Its performance benchmarks reward improvements to the poorest performing buildings, while also recognising those that perform well.
