Passive House is an energy performance standard that provides a high level of indoor air quality and a significant reduction in space heating requirements compared to the standard practice for UK new builds.

This course provides the training, skills and confidence needed to pass the Passive House exam, set by the Passive House Institute (PHI).

Learners are provided with the skills and knowledge required to achieve the Certified European Passive House qualification and contribute to the design of residential Passive House projects.

The course will provide you with the skills and knowledge needed to start working on residential Passive House design projects, after passing the PHI exam.

This training is aimed at architects and other design professionals with experience in energy efficient design, who wish to gain the Certified European Passive House qualification and acquire skills in designing Passive House projects. It also suits those with an interest in building energy standards.

The course provided by Strathclyde University is comprised of:

    • Ventilation component planning

    • Heat generation and distribution systems
  • 1 day dedicated to PHPP concepts and exercises
  • half day of revisions

Prior to the course, there are 30 hours of pre-course learning

During the course  a case-study, will be done. All information will be provided for this.  The delegates do not need to bring a case study of their own.

Learners should also note that as part of this course you will be required to purchase the PHPP 9 (2015 or newer) software and manual. This can be purchased from the AECB at a cost of £160+VAT for non-members and is required for the online modules. A printed copy of the PHPP manual can be obtained from the PHI shop.
